The beautiful Landscape of Goa

Goa is a tourist destination which is in travel list of every one. From students to single female travelers to family vacationers. The place is known for its beaches and Portuguese Architecture. But Goa has more to offer. Goa is known for its beautiful landscape. Beautiful beaches, monuments, Mountains, Forest, Nature, Waterfalls, Bird Sanctuary, Ancient Hindu Temples, Forts and beautiful buildings reflecting Portuguese Architecture, Goa has much to offer. In my recent visit to this small state I was mesmerized by the beauty of place and could capture this beautiful landscape besides enjoying the local food and the beaches.

The varied Geography of Goa is dominated by beautiful Beaches, Hills and Forests. Goa is indeed very beautiful. One of its side is dominated by 131 kms long shoreline proudly hosting some of the beautiful beaches like Baga, Miramar, Calangute, Anjuna and many more and the other side is predominantly dominated by Hills and forests. The North Goa is a happening place buzzing with tourists from all over the world, the South Goa is silent and peaceful. Beautiful red-tile-roofed houses and villas with coconut and spice plantation all around make it more beautiful.

While traveling in Goa one comes across paddy fields. When the harvesting season is on you will find paddy spread on the sides of road for drying. Goa has a history which goes long back in history. It has caves and ancient temple which are believed to have been built by Pandavas during Mahabharat age (approximately 5000 years ago). Goa also remained under Portuguese and their influence on food and architecture can be seen. It has beautiful churches.

Goa has two major rivers Zuari and Mandovi. These with their tributaries drain about 69% of Goa. Both these rivers have salt water. You will find fisherman all along the river system with their small boats, working hard to maintain livelihood. The original inhabitants of Goa are peaceful and hard working. Tourism in one way has helped them by providing a bigger market for their produce but on the other hand excess tourism is also destroying the peaceful culture of Goa. While in Goa besides beautiful beaches also enjoy simple and serene village life and the forests and hills as well.

I’m well, thanks, Sudhir. I had a few days in Berlin last week. It was my first rest for a long time. Now I’m back to my very busy life in Portugal.

Nice post….Been to Goa nos of times……Sunset and sunrise are so very enchanting….Its definitely fun but at same time its getting way too crowded….You can no longer find peaceful spot on the beaches. There are so many more hidden beaches in hinterland of Maharashtra (called as Konkan region) it can give Goa a run for its charm and fun.
