Travel in India and specially in the state of Madhya Pradesh can be amazing. It has so many surprises to offer to a traveler that it will amaze you. I recently visited this beautiful place with my family which is owned and managed by Madhya Pradesh Tourism. The place is called “Hanuwantiya Island”. The place is away from madding crowd and very serene. The place is so beautiful that you will fall in love at first glance. The backwaters of Indira Sagar Dam makes it more beautiful. This is a very different place than what you normally found in Madhya Pradesh.
Tourist Village at Hanuwantiya is a huge complex in the backwaters of Indira Sagar Dam. The property is well managed and maintained. It has 10 beautiful cottages. The view of the Indira Sagar Dam from the cottages is awesome. The place was developed to promote adventure tourism in the state. It is famous for Water Sports and every year “Jal Mahotsav” meaning water festival is organised.
“Jal Mahotsav” is the water festival organised every year by Madhya Pradesh Tourism. The idea is to promote adventure tourism in the state of Madhya Pradesh. It is a must visit event for adventure lovers. You can read more about the same here.
The property is huge and very clean. There is also a boat club. You can enjoy speed boat ride in the deep waters of Indira Sagar Dam. They also have two houseboats and you can plan your stay on the houseboats for a day or two, which is a different experience altogether. Read more about our experience of stay on House Boat here.
The staff at the resort is very cordial and helpful. The food prepared is homely. The view from the restaurant is beautiful. The cottages are elevated and are in set of two. The balcony presents a beautiful view of the backwaters. Sitting in the balcony in the morning with a cup of tea and witnessing beautiful sunrise is an experience in itself. The golden lights of the morning sun falling on the moving water of dam make the view more beautiful. Check the photo gallery below.
We also went for nature walk on a Island and also experienced the life on House Boat. I will share the details of the same in a separate post. The way to the island was on a speed boat. The cold water of Indira Sagar Dam crushing on your face and boat landing in waves with a thud sound was an adventures experience in itself. They have trained staff to take care of the same. I will share the experience and the photos in a separate post.
What always amazed me about Madhya Pradesh Tourism properties is the hospitality of the staff. I have traveled to many places in the state now and found staff to be very helpful. The Unit Manager of the Place Mr. Vipin Katare even helped us plan our itinerary for further travel along the Narmada River. Providing all the minute details and informing us about the importance of the places that we wanted to visit. Very proactive in his approach on all aspects whether it was food, our stay, Island visit or boat ride. These people took personal care to make our experience a unique one.
