We stayed with family in Corbett Suman Grand in our first visit to the Jim Corbett National Park. The park is situated in Ramnagar in Nainital district in the state of Uttarakhand. The park is famous for Tiger, Wild Elephants and Leopards. It is 250 kms from Delhi and it takes close to 7 hours by road.
We read plenty of reviews about the hotel. My preferred site to check the reviews is Tripadvisor, though I also read travel stories and other sites. Reviews and rating of the hotel was good. The first view of the hotel from outside was ok, not very high. But when we were going towards rooms after completing the formalities the view changed completely. When you descend from office block you are welcomed by a open green area with a view of mountains in the backyard. The rooms are constructed on both sides of the park. River Kosi flows in the backyard and its roar can be heard easily.
The rooms were spacious and clean. The front balcony opened in the park areas whereas the other balcony gave a pleasant view of the jungle in the backyard. The rooms offer enough privacy. The restaurant is in the office block. The serve Buffet when there are enough visitors. In our case it was Buffet only. They served enough variety to choose from and food is very good. We also enjoyed the dinner here.
The concept of the hotel is good. Enough areas to play for the children. You cam take a walk on the banks of Kosi river and enjoy the fresh, clean and cold water. They need to improve a bit on the room service which is slow.
